These are the higher tier grade boundaries for all past sittings of the new Edexcel GCSE Maths. The first two sets of exams were not at all popular with students but the June 2018 exams were viewed as more reasonable. The grade boundaries were higher but students felt they had more opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge. Grade boundaries for November exams are not as reliable as boundaries for June exams because there are far fewer students taking what essentially are re-sit exams.

All except the November 2020 exams were taken before the pandemic but give an indication of what you can expect both when completing past papers and when sitting your actual GCSE exams in May/June 2023.

Review of Straight Lines Homework 1 (5 Min)

If you were unhappy with finding the equations of straight lines in last week's homework, please watch the short video above.

Then complete three similar questions and hand in on Monday 13 December.

Straight Lines Homework 2 Solutions

Please also complete the graph plotting exam questions below:

A-Level students have to be able to prove that the square root of 2 is an irrational number. However, the proof is also accessible to GCSE students. The only idea with which you may not be familiar is that fractions with coprime integers have been cancelled down as far as possible.

The Square Root of 2 is Irrational (6 Min):

Please complete the following questions in your exercise book and hand in on Monday 6 December.

All students who scored less than 25/30 on Indices Test 3 or did not do Indices Test 3 please complete Indices Test 4 and hand in on Monday 29 November.

You may use your books and previous tests to help you.

Please complete the 10 questions below and hand in on Friday 19 November.

The following video lesson , lesson notes, exercise and solutions should supplement your classwork on Surds

Video Lesson (19 min)

Over the coming months I will be developing a new web site at chsmathsgcse.bravesites.com to provide you with practice on exam questions across the syllabus.

Here is a list of the topics on which you will be examined during a one hour test during our lesson on Monday 8 November.

This is the homework you were given in a booklet and handed in on Wednesday 20 October.

Please complete three races against the clock for:

A six minute video lesson is available working through two examples of each type.

You can print off your marked solutions or photograph and email them to me by Sunday 17 October.

Please complete three races against the clock for:

Double Bracket Expansions - do this one twice selecting first single x^{2} and then multiple x^{2}

You can print off your marked solutions or photograph and email them to me by Wednesday.

Several of you have struggled with solving linear equations. Hopefully, you can consolidate your knowledge by watching the following two short video lessons and completing the associated exercises.

Linear Equations 1 (12 mins)

Linear Equations 2 (14 Mins)

If you scored less than 17/25 on the algebra homework then please complete this similar exercise and hand in on Monday 4 October.

If you scored 17 or more the work is optional - but I will mark it if you do it!

Please complete and hand in on Wednesday 28 September:

Algebra Homework Video Solutions (10 min)

Complete the 4 questions and self mark using the solutions in the Wednesday 22 September lesson notes on this web page.

To be completed before next Monday's lesson.

Please complete these 5 questions and hand in Tuesday 21 September:
